Shinpiden – Reiki Three

Shinpiden is the Japanese word for “mystery teachings.” It is aimed at Level II practitioners or established Reiki Teachers who wish to continue their personal journey that is ongoing long after completing the Shinpiden course. It is therefore not just about teaching and is even suitable for those who wish to simply develop their personal Reiki practice and occasionally teach those around them.

This traditional Japanese Reiki class is for people who have completed Reiki Level Two (or more) in any lineage and would like to deepen their knowledge and/or teach traditional Japanese Reiki for all species. This course focuses on sharing Reiki with animals. It also includes all Reiki 3 requirements for working with people. It is very similar to Kathleen Prasad’s Animal Reiki but the approach is the same for all species. Students should have at least six months of experience practicing Reiki at the Reiki 2 level, but this is not enforced. The Reiki techniques and general principles taught in this class are different from those of Western Reiki that is usually taught in North America. For example, Western Reiki practitioners must use a certain symbol to “send” Reiki to practice “distant” healing, while traditional Japanese Reiki practitioners may use symbols as tools to help them be in the correct state of being and “offer” Reiki in a state of oneness with others who may be located anywhere. Therefore, a prerequisite for this class is either Shoden or Okuden, as Level 3 students need to already have a basic understanding of and experience with the traditional Japanese approach to Reiki.

In the teachings of the Usui Reiki Ryoho lineage, Reiki is the same regardless of who it is offered to. In this class, students will share Reiki with each other, animals, and plants. The class follows the traditional Japanese Reiki teachings of Mikao Usui as taught by Frans Stiene of the International House of Reiki and fulfils the Codes of Practice of the Shibumi International Reiki Association.
